Alisson learns his fate as FA confirm Liverpool keeper's punishment for Forest incident

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has been fined for misconduct following his behaviour after Liverpool's 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest last month.

The Brazilian felt aggrieved after giving away a penalty during the game, which came after he fouled former Red Neco Williams. Morgan Gibbs-White subsequently scored from the spot.

After the full-time whistle blew Alisson's frustration remained as he was seen kicking the fourth official’s board - which had already caused controversy having not worked, which delayed Liverpool from making their substitutions in the build-up to Forest’s penalty - when leaving the pitch.

Alisson accepted a charge for misconduct from the FA and has now been fined £8,000.

A statement read: “Liverpool’s Alisson Becker has been fined £8,000 for misconduct at the Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest on 29 August. It was alleged that the goalkeeper acted in an improper manner around the tunnel area after the final whistle. Alisson Becker has subsequently accepted the charge against him and received the standard penalty.”

The contest was Liverpool's first home game of the season, but they twice found themselves behind before rescuing a point. Dan Ndoye scored Forest's opener in front of the Kop before Alexander Isak equalised.

Gibbs-White's penalty threatened to see Forest secure a third straight win at Anfield, but summer signing Victor Munoz would come up with an impressive strike to ensure Andoni Iraola didn't taste defeat.

It has since emerged this week that the Premier League's Key Match Incidents (KMI) Panel determined that the penalty against Alisson was wrongly-awarded by referee Sam Barrott.

Three members of the five-man panel believed the goalkeeper's challenge on Williams had not been worthy of punishment, but VAR did not intervene.

"The contact from Alisson was inevitable as a consequence of his momentum in attempting to save the ball," the KMI Panel said. "The contact made was not reckless and below the threshold for a penalty."
