Newcastle United could well receive some good news concerning the Bruno Guimaraes transfer saga if the betting pattern is anything to go by. The Magpies have been left frustrated with Sandro Tonali going to Spurs and a Premier League rival hijacking a marquee signing but they could be encouraged with the latest development in the betting world concerning their midfield maestro from Brazil just a day after rumours circulating the Gunners could pull out of the deal .

According to oddschecker, more than two-thirds of the bets made in the Bruno Guimaraes club after summer transfer window market has been placed on him making the surprise decision to stay at St James' Park. It comes as somewhat of a blow for Arsenal fans as the change in betting attitude suggests many are confident on the Newcastle captain to stay at the club after the summer transfer window at least.

Currently, the Brazilian midfielder, 28, is still set to sign for Arsenal based on the odds of 1/2 with bet365 and 2/5 with BetMGM and VirginBet too. However, it seems a number of punters - perhaps Newcastle supporters - are confident on keeping their star midfielder with the odds shortening to 7/4 and 6/4 respectively. Oddschecker spokesman Chris Rogers stated: "Bruno Guimaraes's odds to join Arsenal have drifted from 1/6 into 1/2 while punters are piling in on the Brazilian to stay at Newcastle. Over two thirds (67%) of bets today backed the ex-Lyon man to snub Arsenal this summer. Bruno's odds to remain on Tyneside have shortened from 4/1 into 6/4 giving Newcastle fans hope of holding onto their prized midfield asset."

Last week saw his odds drop to as far as 1/5 on him making the move to the Premier League champions with bookies William Hill spearheading the change last week as Newcastle continue to struggle to find any momentum in the window with yet to sign a single player.

Spokesperson for William Hill , Lee Phelps, said: “With reports that Bruno Guimaraes has asked Newcastle to leave for Arsenal, we go 1/5 that the move is completed by the end of the transfer window.

“It had opened at 11/8, however that was quickly snapped up and the change in price suggests the transfer is a matter of when, not if.”

Losing yet another key midfielder would mean Eddie Howe needs to act quickly if he is to make any ground on last season's disappointment despite reaching the last 16 of the Champions League. The Magpies could only manage to finish 11th in the Premier League meaning they are without European football this season.

To make matters worse, they have already lost Sandro Tonali and their hopes of signing Swiss Johan Manzambi has been hijacked by Aston Villa who saw Youri Tielemans sign for Manchester United.
