Manchester United are set to pocket between €16m and €20m from Mason Greenwood’s proposed move to Fenerbahçe this summer, with only Marseille’s signature outstanding on a complex five-club deal that is otherwise ready to complete.
According to
The Peoples Person
, A Spor journalist Erdem Akbaş reported on Thursday that United have already completed their paperwork, with the Turkish club operating to a July 17 deadline to finalise the move.

When United sold Greenwood permanently to Marseille in the summer of 2024, INEOS inserted a sell-on clause believed to be in the region of 40-50% – at the time a quiet piece of contractual housekeeping that is now proving anything but. The 24-year-old delivered 26 goals and 11 assists across 45 appearances for Marseille in 2025/26, a return that has attracted serious interest from across Europe and driven his market value well above what the French side originally paid.

The Reds had already moved Greenwood off the books once – initially on loan to Getafe for 2023/24 – before Marseille completed the permanent transfer. That the deal included such a substantial future sell-on now looks like one of the sharper pieces of outgoing transfer business INEOS has managed.

United’s need for the incoming cash is obvious. Midfield reinforcements are the priority this window, with Atalanta’s Ederson the primary target to replace Casemiro and
Andrey Santos already signed from Chelsea
to add further depth. Manuel Ugarte’s ACL rupture at the World Cup has only intensified the urgency, and the Greenwood windfall gives INEOS meaningful headroom to pursue those targets without relying solely on further player sales.

The five-party structure – involving Marseille, United, Getafe, Fenerbahçe, and Greenwood himself – is administratively complete on United’s end. Once Marseille add their signature, the announcement becomes a formality.
