Man City keeper Donnarumma and pregnant girlfriend 'bound and hit' in terrifying robbery

Gianluigi Donnarumma and his then-pregnant girlfriend were the victims of a frightening robbery in Paris in 2023, a court was told. The 27-year-old goalkeeper and Alessia Elefante were hit, bound and threatened with a knife after the thieves broke into their flat and stole £430,000 worth of luxury items from their home.

Donnarumma and Elefante are now married and have one child named Leo. He was playing for Paris Saint-Germain at the time of the break-in, but moved to Manchester City last summer for £26million, and has been at the Etihad Stadium since.

The ordeal took place in Avenue Montaigne, renowned as one of Paris' most famous and expensive streets, with Donnarumma and Elefante asleep when the alleged attack happened.

The terrifying incident happened in 2023 but has only just gone to trial in France. Donnarumma, who is not expected to be in court at any point to give evidence, detailed his version of events in a witness statement.

Documents revealed in court said how Donnarumma was woken by a man ushering "shh", before he was hit in the face by a punch and threatened with a knife.

It's alleged the man then said: "The watches, the watches".

Donnarumma replied by saying: "I showed him the one on the dressing table, an Audemars Piguet," with the watches believed to have a value worth more than thousands of euros.

Elefante, meanwhile, told investigators that she was awakened by the attackers who assaulted her and bellowed: "The money, the watches."

With Elefante fearing the worst, she gave them a Cartier watch, jewellery and €2,000 (£1718) in cash.

She was then confronted for the code to the safe, but she didn't know it and said there was nothing in there anyway.

Elefante told detectives: "They got angry thinking that I was lying. They pulled me by the hair and one of them hit me on the thighs. I said I was pregnant but they continued."

Donnarumma went on to give the robbers the code for the safe, but they discovered, as Elefante had told them, that it was empty and nothing was in there.

In the end, the thieves left with keys to a Mercedes and a Lamborghini, as well as cash, watches and luxury handbags, a court was informed.

Police added that the four attackers were able to break into the flat by climbing onto the roof via a ladder before manoeuvring themselves onto a balcony and smashing the windows.

Ilyas Kherbouch, 21, and Khyan Mamouni, who are both already in prison, are accused of masterminding and ordering the robbery from their cells. Both deny involvement in the attack on Donnarumma and Elefante.

Two of the robbers, who were under the age of 18 when the robbery happened, have already been given jail sentences of three and four years at a youth court.

Moktar Diop, 24, another defendant involved in the attack, admitted to taking part but is not accused of resorting to violence, while a fourth suspect died by suicide in 2024.
