Man Utd land £8m teenage star from Premier League rivals as they repeat transfer trick

Manchester United have landed teenage winger Tynan Thompson from Tottenham after agreeing a deal worth up to £8million.
The 18-year-old has joined for an initial £4m, with a further £4m coming in potential add-ons. Thompson joined Tottenham's academy when he was 12 and continued to impress last term, which saw him twice included in Champions League matchday squads.
The England youth international was a hit in the UEFA Youth League, where he scored seven goals in seven games for Tottenham , including a hat-trick in the 9-1 win over Slavia Praha.
It is understood that those in Manchester have told him he will get the chance to force his way into the first-team picture, but he's poised to begin his time in the U21s.
The deal for Thompson includes a 15% sell-on clause with the MEN reporting that the add-ons are relate to the teenager's possible first-team achievements with the Red Devils.
In announcing the signing, a United statement said: " Manchester United have agreed the signing of exciting young winger Tynan Thompson, subject to registration. The England youth international has joined from Tottenham Hotspur.
"The 18-year-old scored 13 goals and contributed six assists last season across Under-18s to Under-21s level, including seven goals in seven UEFA Youth League games. His performances earned him opportunities within Spurs’ first-team matchday squads. Everyone at United would like to welcome Tynan to the club and wish him the very best of luck for the future."
Thompson and his family were keen to relocate and the move to Manchester presented them with that opportunity. He becomes the second teenage talent to swap north London for the north west in recent years.

In February last year United signed defender Ayden Heaven from Arsenal on a four-and-a-half-year contract. The teenager cost an undisclosed compensation fee and immediately linked up with the first-team squad, and has since been a big hit when given a chance.
Last year, when injuries stuck, the centre-half made 18 appearances, with all but one of those coming in the Premier League . He played every minute in wins over Chelsea , Brentford and Liverpool towards the latter end of the season.
