Several Manchester United fans have been warned that they risk having their season tickets revoked at Old Trafford after allegedly breaking the club's ticketing regulations. On Tuesday, a large wave of supporters were sent emails notifying them of a temporary suspension on their accounts.

The club stated in the correspondence that they had "identified sustained activity" linked to the specific profiles in question. To address the issue, the email asked the affected fans to reply with a comprehensive list of every device they normally use to log into their account.

United sought confirmation of whether any of these devices were also used to access other ticketing accounts, whether the account is routinely accessed from multiple locations. They also asked for a full explanation of how the account is accessed and managed, as well as valid photographic identification.

Our sister title Manchester Evening News reports that after consulting with a number of affected supporters, they have maintained their innocence. They have also collectively criticised the club for being unclear in their communications.

One fan caught up in the situation has held a season ticket for 27 years, yet the club has confirmed the restrictions on their account will remain in place. Another supporter who follows United both home and away and has regularly complied with identification checks at away fixtures, but now faces the very real prospect of losing their ticket.

One supporter has been informed that the restrictions on their account will remain due to the "balance of the available evidence", yet believes the club has failed to present any concrete proof of wrongdoing.

From discussions with supporters, United appear to have adopted a blanket approach to tackling touting concerns, meaning innocent fans have been caught in the crossfire and now face losing their season tickets. United were unable to confirm how the supporters affected had been flagged by their system.

Some fans who received the initial email have had their restrictions lifted, while others remain in limbo. United believe they have been left with little choice but to tackle a widespread touting problem, though they acknowledge their approach may result in some innocent supporters being swept up in the process. However, a club source pointed to fans who have responded and have had their accounts restored.

The club has yet to receive replies from certain fans following the initial blanket email, which they suggest could indicate guilt of touting. Despite this, every supporter who contacted the outlet has strongly denied any wrongdoing, and all have submitted thorough responses to the club - none of which have been accepted.

United have indicated they are prepared to examine cases more thoroughly. The club has also communicated to fans via email: "To ensure fairness and transparency, we have worked with our Fans' Forum to establish a robust appeals process.

"Appeals are considered by an independent Appeals Panel, supported by senior management representation, to ensure each case is reviewed objectively and fairly.

"If you wish to appeal this decision, you may do so by emailing appeals.panel@manutd.co.uk and providing as much relevant information as possible. NO LATER THAN 19/07/2026 or your season tickets will be cancelled."
