Newcastle United have directly questioned Arsenal over their pursuit of Bruno Guimaraes this summer, according to reports.
The Newcastle captain has already agreed a deal to join Arsenal and has told the club that he wants to join Mikel Arteta’s side this summer.
However, Arsenal’s opening offer of £55 million, which was communicated through intermediaries, has been turned down by Newcastle.
Arsenal indicated that they would follow up with an improved offer but Newcastle have yet to receive a formal bid from the Premier League champions.
According to Sky Sports’ North East reporter, Keith Downie, Newcastle have been frustrated by the lack of communication and have even reached out to Arsenal to ask if they will submit an official offer.
‘The stories regarding Bruno Guimaraes are not going to go away,’ Downie told Sky Sports.

‘The main reason for that is that he has told Newcastle he would like to explore a move away from the club, and a move to Arsenal in particular.
‘He is ambitious. He wants to win trophies. He doesn’t want to end his career having only won the Carabao Cup and potentially another cup with Newcastle.
