It's that time of the year again - the transfer window is now open until September 1 and it's sure to be a busy period with clubs looking to make big signings ahead of next season.

Hull City have moved to try and beat Ipswich Town to the signing of Hidemasa Morita following his departure from Sporting Lisbon as a free agent.

Leeds United had also been in talks with the 31-year-old prior to the midfielder leaving the Portuguese side this summer.

Morita was a popular figure at Sporting, he played 31 times last season, and fans wanted him to stay but he now looks increasingly likely to join Premier League new boys Hull after their ambitious play to sign him.

Coach Gian Piero Gasperini spoke to Summerville last night to try and convince him Roma's project was more suitable for the Netherlands international.

Al Hilal have agreed a £60m fee with West Ham with £55m up front.

Roma had offered £39m plus add ons.

The Italians are also keen on Chelsea defender Axel Disasi who was a teammate of Summerville's at West Ham last season.

They also made an offer for Chelsea's Alejandro Garnacho but Aston Villa's proposal for the winger offers more guarantees.

Leeds United defender Maximilian Wober is joining Schalke on a free transfer.

The 28-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Werder Bremen, has been having a medical with Schalke.

Wober and Leeds are finalising a mutual agreement to terminate his contract a year early.

Valencia remain keen to sign Leeds attacking midfielder Largie Ramazani too.

Fellow Netherlands international Jan Paul van Hecke has now completed his £52million move to Tottenham from Brighton.

The Dutch centre-half, who chalked up three goals and three assists from 36 Premier League match for the Seagulls last term, had one year left on his contract at the Amex before Spurs swooped in to sign him.

It marks the latest signing in what has been a busy transfer window for Spurs, with Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Andrew Robertson, Martin Dubravka and Marcos Senesi all joining Roberto De Zerbi's ranks ahead of the new season.

Meanwhile, Middlesbrough have confirmed the signing of striker Will Lankshear from Tottenham in a deal worth £20million including add-ons.

He has signed a five year contract and said: 'Middlesbrough is such a massive club over the years; I deem it to be a Premier League club.

'The project here really excites me. I can’t wait to get started and be part of the journey, and get this club back where it belongs.'

Lankshear scored 11 goals in 43 appearances for Oxford United last season and also had interest from Wolves.

Jan Paul van Hecke has now completed his £52million move to Tottenham from Brighton

Hull City have had a £13.6million bid rejected for Auxerre midfielder Kevin Danois.

The 22-year-old, who is also on Newcastle United’s watchlist, has emerged as a top target for Hull but Auxerre value him closer to £25million.

That would require Hull to smash their club transfer record and they want at least two new midfielders.

Danois is a France U21 international and made 33 appearances in Ligue 1 last term, scoring three times and registering one assist.

Liverpool made an approach for Monaco attacking midfielder Maghnes Akliouche early in the window.

The club checked on the potential availability of the 24-year-old but it was evident he was a prime target for Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG have made offers to Monaco for the France international but have still to agree on the fee.

Liverpool did not progress with talks after their initial check and are exploring other options including PSG's Bradley Barcola.

Ajax have joined the clubs showing interest in Wolves' wantaway striker Tolu Arokodare.

Arokodare will not be part of Wolves' squad to face Maidenhead tonight after his actions prompted coach Cesar Peixoto to cancel training on Monday.

The Nigerian refused to exit the training pitch when asked prompting the session to be cancelled. Extra security was then called in to the training ground on Tuesday to ensure the 25-year-old striker did not disrupt the session again.

Arokodare, who joined from Genk last summer, has been frustrated that his proposed loan move to Torino has not developed while Genoa have also made an enquiry.

Arokodare did not initially travel with the squad for last week’s warm weather training camp in Portugal, only receiving a late call-up following an injury to fellow forward Adam Armstrong.

In April, he faced disciplinary action after a dressing room bust-up with team-mate Mateus Mane during a 4-0 defeat at West Ham.

Wolves cancelled training after wantaway striker Tolu Arokodare refused to leave the pitch

Ipswich Town have confirmed the signing of Issa Diop from Fulham in a deal worth around £8.5m.

The centre-back has signed a four-year deal.

Ipswich have also scheduled a medical for this week ahead of completing the £10million signing of Daizen Maeda from Celtic.

Ipswich agreed a deal for the forward worth an initial £8m plus £2m in add-ons.

Talks are continuing over a deal for free agent midfielder Hidemasa Morita, formerly of Sporting Lisbon, as well as Union SG’s Dutch goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen.
