The club are yet to follow up on their initial interest, according to Chronicle Live , with The Athletic reporting Trafford prefers a move to Leeds United, who are in talks to sign the 23-year-old from Manchester City. At present, Newcastle are expected to retain Nick Pope as their number one for pre-season, with Jaouen anticipated to offer competition from the bench.

Right-back will be a key talking point for Newcastle before the window ends. With Tino Livramento withdrawing from the England World Cup squad due to injury, question marks persist over whether he will be able to remain fit enough for a consistent run of games.

Tottenham would welcome a bidding war with Nottingham Forest for the midfielder, with Newcastle determined to hold firm on their valuation of the player. Standing at 6'2, the midfielder's imposing physical presence complements his technical prowess on the ball exceptionally well and could develop into an effective partnership with Bruno Guimaraes - assuming the Brazilian stays in the North East this summer.
